HEARTBURN SPOILED YOUR PARTY?

Last night my friend was at family party. The party couldn’t be avoided. So she had to rush for the party after long working hours at office. Since she hadn’t had her lunch properly due to workload, so she binged on the lip-smacking spicy, oily food. Fun of delicious food got over when she ended up with acidity. Late night she ringed me to ask if I have any medicine for heartburn.

Jog your memory?
It is one thing that all of us have faced regardless of age or gender. Our lifestyle makes us vulnerable to acidity aka heartburn. Owing to earn livelihood human race is on toes 24* 7. Most of us juggle at workplace and society like an ace. In this hectic lifestyle, we approach easy ways to appetite our hunger with fast food. As a result what we get? Any guesses? Yes, we get a bonus of acidity not because we worked hard but we followed unhealthy life style.

You may suffer from following symptoms apart from burning in chest (heartburn)
· Pain or burning sensation in the stomach
·     Bloating of stomach
·    Excessive belching or sour sensation
·    Sour taste in mouth
·    Nausea or vomiting

Often it happens after consuming a large meal with high fat, food that increases acidity in the stomach, or after lying down too quickly after eating and poor eating habits. In this condition person experiences painful burning sensation around the midline chest area.

WHAT CAUSED YOU TO PRONE TO ACIDITY?
The heartburn occurs due to flowing back of stomach acid into food pipe when the channel between food pipe and stomach remains open for some reason.  So you must thumbs down the following to avoid spoiling your party mood.
  • ·Fat in the junk food, esp. deep fried food that stays in stomach for long time and triggers more acid production.
  •  Overeating also causes more acid production.
  • Eating just before bedtime raises acidity.
  •  Smoking and alcohol slows down the digestion process that again triggers heartburn.
  • Consumption of high quantity of spicy food stimulates excessive acid secretion by stomach.
  • Non-vegetarian foods are slow to digest putting pressure on stomach to release more acid for its digestion.
  • Caffeine has also been considered culprit for increasing acid secretion.
  • Stress has also been linked to acidity.
  • Some medicines like non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, antibiotics, and bisphosphonates cause acid in the stomach to regurgitate.
  • Certain stomach ailments like peptic ulcersgastro-esophageal reflux disease, stomach tumors, etc. also aggravates or causes acidity.
